Oskar Potiorek

Oskar Potiorek was a central figure in the first months of the World War. He was born on 20 November 1853 in Bleiburg, Austria. FML Oskar Potiorek succeeded Eduard Ritter von Succovaty von Vezza as commander of the III. Corps in April 1897. He held this command for four years, surrendering it to FML Karl Schikofski in 1910. In 1911, he became Inspector General of the Austrian Army. He was replaced in this position by the Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1913.

Oskar Potiorek died in 1933.
